The vice chancellor for student affairs (VCSA) reports to the chancellor and serves on the chancellor’s executive team. The vice chancellor provides executive leadership to a core set of student services-related departments and programs, to include the Division of Student Life (led by the Dean of Students), the Wisconsin Union, University Health Services, and Recreational Sports. In addition to providing oversight, support, and direction to these units, the VCSA collaborates broadly across the many units and programs that serve students across campus, such as University Housing and the Division of Diversity, Equity and Educational Achievement.
The position works with other units on campus to enhance UW–Madison as a lively and welcoming community for students and to create transformative outside-the-classroom learning opportunities to prepare students to be successful in a global society. The vice chancellor is tasked with enhancing coordination and identifying synergies between student services units, providing executive leadership in managing student issues, and crafting a vision to advance the Wisconsin Experience for all students.
