WiscWeb - WordPress UW Theme - "Oops! Something went wrong" Events Calendar Pro Error

This issue will walk you through what the "Oops! Something went wrong" error message looks like, what it means, and how to resolve it.

Oops! Something went wrong error message in WiscWeb

This issue will occur if you use Google Maps in your events in WiscWeb (via the Events Calendar Pro plugin).

As of June 2018, Google has changed their Google Maps API such that programs like Events Calendar Pro will require an API key in order to render maps in-page. Therefore, projects that utilize this feature will see an "Oops! Something went wrong" message now in place of the previously embedded Google Map in their event pages.

  1. In your Dashboard, navigate to Events

  2. Click on Settings

  3. In the General tab, scroll down to the Map Settings area

  4. Uncheck the box that says "Check to enable map for events and venues"

    Events calendar map settings

  5. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click the blue Save Changes button
