WiscWeb - WordPress UW Theme - Steps to Request a Website Launch
This document will walk you through the steps you need to take in order to launch your website in WiscWeb.
Step 1: Review the Pre-Launch Information
Information regarding the launch process can be found on the WiscWeb informational site. Please review this info prior to scheduling your site launch.
Step 2: Fill out the Launch Request Form
The next step is to fill out the Launch Request Form on the WiscWeb informational site.
Can edit my site before it is launched?
Yes, you can continue editing up until your time of launch.
How much notice do you need in order to schedule a site launch?
It is recommended that you schedule your launch at least two weeks in advance. This gives us the opportunity to coordinate the launch with our shared hosting team. Having your site scheduled in advance helps ensure that it can launch on the day of your choosing.
How do I get rid of the “wiscweb” in the site URL?
The “wiscweb” portion of your URL will be removed when you officially launch your website. Instead of your WiscWeb URL, your site will publish to the domain you requested when you sent in the new site request form. Please note that the ‘wiscweb’ portion of the URL WILL still appear when you are logged in and actively editing your site. You will know if you are in edit mode if a dark gray/black bar appears at the top of the screen. Also, ‘wiscweb’ will still show up for any and all media file links - even after site launch. If you are interested in listing a link to media from an outside source like a PDF, an email, or in printed materials, simply remove the “wiscweb” from the URL. It will still open the document but looks a little cleaner. Please make sure to schedule your launch a couple days in advance of when you want your site to go live. This gives us an opportunity to get everything scheduled on our end.
