The Center serves first-generation, low-income, and multicultural underrepresented students within the College of Letters & Science. CAE fosters an inclusive teaching and learning environment that helps students reach their academic potential, attain undergraduate degrees, and realize their human promise as they become citizens of a global community.
The Academic Advancement Program (AAP), founded in 1966 and one of the country's oldest college support programs, was absorbed in 2013 into the Center for Academic Excellence. For most of its life, AAP enrolled 50-100 students annually and worked with them through their undergraduate careers till graduation, offering two kinds of primary support: advising and academic instruction.
