Members reserve the cars by the hour and are covered by Community Car's insurance while they drive. As a Community Car member, you'll enjoy access to a car or truck on the occasions when you need one. You'll also be...
- Saving money.
- Pursuing a healthy active lifestyle.
- Making friends on the bus or the bike trail.
- Helping promote sustainable urban development.
Community Car is a car-sharing organization that provides vehicles by the hour. Everything's included -- even gas and insurance. Members have access to all Community Car vehicles, including hybrids, a pick-up truck, minivan and fun Mini Cooper. There are various ways to pay for your car whether by the hour or a pre-paid lump sum. There is an annual $35 membership fee. See the website for locations of cars and all other details.
UW Transportation Services and Community Car are offering promotional offers to UW students, faculty and staff over 21. The goal of this program is to allow members to drive to appointments or run errands during the day without worrying about carpool or bus scheduling issues. It is also part of a university-wide effort to minimize parking problems, reduce car pollution and encourage alternate transportation. Students ages 19 and 20 are able to use the service but must meet the following eligibility requirements: 3 years of driving experience, enrolled UW student, GPA of 3.0 or higher.
