The Morgridge Center for Public Service connects campus and community through service, service learning and community-based research to build a thriving democratic society.

The Morgridge Center for Public Service will lead the University of Wisconsin-Madison in preparing students to be their best civic selves for lifelong civic engagement by building capacity, in partnership with the community, to address complex problems locally and globally.

  • In Fall 2017, 61 official Service-Learning courses are being offered at UW-Madison across 39 different departments or programs.

  • Seven (7) projects, featuring 15 students, were awarded 2017-18 Wisconsin Idea Undergraduate Fellowships.

  • In 2016-17, 1,568 UW-Madison students participated in the Badger Volunteers program. Those students dedicated more than 32,300 hours to 96 community partner organizations.

  • In the 2016-17 academic year, 116 UW-Madison students volunteered as tutor/mentors with the Achievement Connections math tutoring program, supporting local high school students.

  • Volunteers is in its third year of collaboration with the School of Business Compass Program. Participation in Badger Volunteers fulfills a requirement for students in program.

  • L&S Career Services partners with the Morgridge Center for Public Service to host two annual Public Service Fairs – offering students the opportunity to meet with over 80 local and national nonprofits and government agencies to find jobs, internships and volunteer opportunities.
