Dates April 14-21, 2016

The Wisconsin Film Festival is presented by the Arts Institute in association with the Department of Communication Arts. Founded in 1999, the Festival presents over 150 films in eight theaters over eight days, April 9-16.

This year, our venues are The Marquee at Union South, UW Cinematheque, Chazen Museum of Art, Capitol Theater at Overture Center for the Arts, Madison Museum of Contemporary Art (MMoCA), and Sundance Cinemas.

Here’s a welcome chance to turn off the tube, log off the internet, and share the magic and joy of a big screen experience with your fellow Wisconsinites. You, the audience, have our strongest encouragement to try out a few things you might not normally catch. After all, there’s no better week in Madison to take a chance at the movies.

Visit every corner of the globe, from local supper clubs to Timbuktu. See thought-provoking documentaries, oddball comedies, moving dramas, and visionary avant-garde cinema all in the same day. From experimental work that expands the frame of cinema, to well-oiled genre flicks that expertly work within it, whatever your poison, you’ll find it served up, in short form and feature length, in this year's Festival.

Categories for 2016 Wisconsin Film Festival Selections will be released in September

To find additional films that are playing, visit our website at wifilmfest.org or peruse through a printed Film Guide, available wherever The Cap Times is distributed, as well as all of our venues, Whole Foods, Hilldale merchants, Madison Public Library branches, and many other locations throughout Madison. Plus, click here for details on the events also happening around the Festival.
