Mac OS X (10.5+) - Finding the IP Address and MAC Address

This document describes the process of finding both the IP address and MAC address of your Mac OS computer.

 

IP Address

  1. Open the Apple Menu in the top left, and select System Preferences.

  2. Click the Network icon.

  3. In the Network menu, click the Advanced button located in the bottom right corner.

  4. Click the TCP/IP option in the top bar.

  5. Here, you will find the computer's IP address under IPv4 Address. Additionally, your router's IP can be found under Router.

MAC Address

  1. Open the Apple Menu in the top left. Select System Preferences.

  2. Click the Network icon.

  3. In the Network menu, click the Advanced button located in the bottom right corner.

  4. Click the Hardware option in the top bar.

  5. Here, you will find the computer's IP address under MAC Address.
