ASM is the volunteer and campaign-driven student government, advocating and organizing for student concerns. The student council represents the interests of the 40,000+ undergraduates and graduates at UW-Madison. Representatives have the final say over student service funding, shared governance appointments and deciding which issues ASM will tackle while taking positions on current issues.
- Funds registered student organizations
-Advocates students' right to participate in making university-wide decisions
-Distributes resources for student activities, organizations and events to maximize student involvement in shaping campus life
-Promotes student voice as it pertains to legislative, inclusion diversity and university affairs
There are several permanent ASM committees that work in the student interest including: Diversity, Legislative Affairs, Shared Governance, Campus Relations, Academic Affairs, Finance, and Student Service Finance.
ASM also offers student services including Student Print (see separate record), course and instructor evaluations, student bus pass (see separate record), and services for student organizations.
