The Student Services Finance Committee (SSFC) is responsible for submitting a student fees budget to the Associated Students of Madison (ASM) Council and to the Chancellor, recommending how those fees be spent.
SSFC is comprised of 15 UW-Madison students and works to distribute $45 million in the General Student Services Fund (GSSF) to various campus groups. Money from segregated fees goes to both student organizations, and UW Departments that run non-academic student programming, including University Health Services and Recreation Sports. The money that goes to support student groups is a part of the General Student Services Fund (GSSF), and the student organizations that receive their budget from this fund are often called GSSF Groups. The SSFC has the authority to recommend raising, freezing, or lowering the funding of existing GSSF organizations and to recommend accepting or denying new funding requests.
SSFC also helps oversee UHS, Rec Sports, Wisconsin Union and campus childcare, but they do not have final say on those budget decisions.
