CALS Residence Halls

Jorns Hall and Humphrey Hall provide a comfortable home for students and visitors while on campus. These residence halls are located on the scenic shores of Lake Mendota at 650 Babcock Drive.
These two dormitories are not part of the larger UW-Housing Residence Hall system, but instead owned by the College of Ag and Life Sciences. The dorms provide housing for Farm and Industry Short Course students from November – April. They also house 25-40 full-time degree students on a contract basis.  Short-term or group housing is also available from mid-April through mid-October. Living arrangements in the Short Course dormitories, as in other dormitories, are governed by the Board of Regents rules and state statutes.

Short Term Guests

Groups and individuals visiting campus for official University business may rent single, double, or triple occupancy rooms. Persons traveling alone will only be able to rent single rooms. Double shared rooms are only available to persons traveling as a group of two and triple shared rooms are only available to persons traveling as a group of three. UW departments and off campus groups here on official university business may reserve blocks of singles, doubles and triple shared rooms for visits and conference purposes. The dorms have daily and weekly rates. Guests staying more than four weeks may obtain special rates by signing a contract and paying a $100 refundable damage deposit.

Humphrey and Jorns Halls function as a dormitory, thus families with children under the age of 16 cannot be housed here. For the same reason, couples are not permitted to stay unless both individuals are on University related business. Starting Fall 2011 Humphrey and Jorns Halls will no longer provide housing for persons and groups visiting for University sports games.
