Window 10 Upgrades

What to expect during windows upgrades
Windows 10 needs to be upgraded from version to version in order to stay supported. Currently, that means each version needs to be updated to the newest one every 18 to 30 months. In order to facilitate this in a way that is least inconvenient as possible, we allow you to defer your upgrade for a short time to finish and save anything you are working on. When the box pops up notifying you its time to upgrade, you have 3 choices:
  1. Minimize means wait and ask me later (up until the time in the deadline on the screen). You will get small nag screens in the bottom right of your screen above the system tray reminding you its available.
  2. Install now will start the process right away. Make sure everything is already closed and saved, as it will log you out as soon as you click the button.
  3. The final option is to schedule it. This is probably the best option in order to minimize downtime. We recommend scheduling it for later the same day at a time after you go home, for the weekend, etc. At the scheduled time, 2 things can happen. If you chose the manual option, the same box will pop-up again and allow you to choose the best option for you at the time. If you chose the automatically start option, your computer will automatically start the upgrade process at the scheduled time. Its important to note that it will not warn you, so make sure its a good time to do it (like after you are going to be gone for the day).
The entire process takes around an hour (depending on your hardware it may take more or less time), so please plan accordingly. There is no way to stop the process once it has started.
