Updating Adobe Creative Cloud Applications to the Latest Version

This document provides step-by-step instructions on how to update your Adobe Creative Cloud apps to the latest version. This process is necessary in order to move off of the previous serialized license and onto the current UW-Madison named-user license.

This documents covers both Windows and MacOS, because the application uses the same interface across operating systems.

    1. Launch the Adobe Creative Cloud application
        • On Windows: Open the Start Menu and search for "Adobe Creative Cloud". Select the app.

      LaunchWindows

        • On MacOS: Under "Applications", open the "Adobe Creative Cloud" folder and select the "Adobe Creative Cloud" application inside

      LaunchMacOS
    2. Navigate to the "Apps" tab in the Adobe Creative Cloud Application, then select the "Updates" section in the left column. Find the application that you would like to update and click the blue "Update" button next to the application. If the application has a white "Open" button instead, the application is already up to date.

    1. If your update starts automatically, your application is already on the latest major version (version 2019 at the time of writing) and will receive minor updates. Otherwise, a window will appear, asking to confirm you're updating the specified application.
You will be presented with a few options. By selecting the "Remove old versions" checkbox, the update will uninstall all previous versions of this application and replace it with the newest version. When your preferred options are selected, click the blue "Continue" button.
