EPD - Technology - Blackboard Ultra - Connecting to Ultra with an iOS device

This document provides instructions on connecting to a blackboard ultra live web conference with an iOS device

EPD recommends connecting to all live web conferences with a laptop or desktop and a stable broadband connection, but we realize that this isn't always possible.

These directions describe connecting with an iOS device.

Option 1 (connecting through your device's browser):
  1. Navigate to the course site just as you would on laptop or desktop by going to canvas.wisc.edu and clicking on your course.

Option 2 (connecting to audio using your phone):
You may find that your cellular connection is not strong enough for VoIP. You can connect to the session through your phone connection using your individual phone number and pin.
  1. Follow the steps in Option 1 to launch the web conference in your web browser.
  2. Then, open the left navigation menu.
  3. Click on use your phone for audio phone number and pin displayed on the left side

  4. Your unique dial in number and pin will be displayed. This ties your phone audio to the web conference.

  5. For further information, see this document on connecting to  Blackboard Collaborate via Teleconference.

Option 3 (Using Canvas Student):
If you are enrolled in a Credit Course, you may find the Canvas Student app useful for your coursework as well as for connecting to live web conferences.
  1. Download the Canvas Student app from the iOS App store.
  2. Navigate to your course from the course dashboard.

Option 4 (Anonymous Dial In):
If you're not able to connect either through the browser or by dialing in with a custom number, you can also use this anonymous dial in information. You can use this dial in to access the web conference, but you may not be able to view the course content.
  1. Follow the directions in Option 1 or Option 3.
  2. When you reach the join conference page, identify the anonymous dial in information.
