Academic Staff Executive Committee Minutes 10-17-19

The meeting was called to order at 1:01 p.m.

Nadine Connor presented draft guidelines for the Research Professor. The title series was approved by the Faculty Senate on April 1, 2019. She was charged to put together a committee to move forward with a campus framework. The guidelines call for those who hold the title to have leadership of their own research program that includes funding for 50% of their effort. There will not be a prescribed clock for the different levels in the series. The appointment needs to include a minimum of 5% of the salary that comes from non-sponsored funds to allow for grant writing. Space assignments would be made in writing and should be consistent with the scope of research.

Schools/Colleges/Divisions will establish their own guidelines. The guidelines need to be approved by the VCRGE or designee.  They will need to establish an appointment promotion committee for this appointment. Specifics on the committee are left up to the school/college/division. A mentoring committee would be established for Assistant Research Professors.
