Natural limestone cave offers guided tours of magnificent caverns. See multi-colored stalactites and stalagmites.
Cave of the Mounds - National Natural Landmark is open year round rain or shine. Cave tours last approximately 1 hour and depart rain or shine. Extended programs are available year round for schools, scout/youth programs, and group tours. Call for reservations and rates.
Fall: Tuesday after Labor Day Weekend - November 15
Weekdays: On the Hour, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
Weekends: 30 Minute Intervals, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
Winter: November 16 - March 14 (Closed December 24-25)
Weekdays: 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. tour (call ahead to reserve)
Weekends: On the Hour, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. (no reservations needed)
Spring: March 15 - Friday before Memorial Day Weekend
Weekdays: On the Hour, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. (Grounds open 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.)
Weekends: 30 Minute Intervals, 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m. (Grounds open 9 a.m. - 6 p.m.)
Summer: Memorial Day Weekend -Labor Day
Weekdays and Weekends: 20-30 Minute Intervals 9 a.m.-7 p.m. (last tour departs at 6 p.m.)
Admission (includes one hour guided Cave tour):
- Adults: $18.95
- Children (age 4-12): $10.95
- Children (age 3 & under): free with paid adult
One-year season passes are also available for adults and teenagers ($25.26) and children ages 4-12 ($16.82). Gift Shop, Visitor Center, Rock Gardens and Picnic Area. Cave is not wheelchair or stroller accessible, but buildings are. Cave temperature is 50 degrees F, be sure to dress appropriately.
Directions: located 25 miles west of Madison off Highways 18 and 151 between Mount Horeb and Blue Mounds.
