Tier 2: Wordperfect Support FAQ
Corel WordPerfect is no longer supported centrally by LTG. Here are some common questions and answers about the transition.
Question: Where is WordPerfect on my Windows 7 computer?
Answer: WordPerfect is no longer a standard app provided by LTG.
Question: Can I still use WordPerfect?
Answer: Yes, but you'll need to seek departmental approval for the purchase and buy the appropriate version at the DoIT Tech Store:
Question: How do I convert a WordPerfect file to Word?
Answer: Generally we've found that it works best to convert WP documents from within MS Word using the built-in converter. The process is essentially:
-Click on the "Office Button" on the top left part of the screen
-Navigate to the file you'd like to open and select it
Question: How do I access "reveal codes" from within Word
Question: Should I convert old WordPerfect documents or convert on an "as needed" basis?
Answer: Our sense is that while WordPerfect's market share has shrunk to less than 1 percent of the word processing market (according to Market Share Reporter 2012), the format can still be read by Word and the WordPerfect application is still being made. Therefore, there seems to be little immediate need for an intensive retro conversion. However, staff may want to consider moving selected important documents to Word to facilitate sharing and position us most securely for future access.
Question: What if I encounter a WordPerfect document that does not convert to Word?
Answer: Contact LTG at 262-8880 and we will work with you on the best approach, possibly using a current copy of WordPerfect that we'll be retaining at our Helpdesk.
