Overview:

Communications

We produce eCALS (an e-newsletter for all CALS faculty/staff/grad students), Grow magazine (a periodical distributed to all CALS domestic alumni, donors and other key stakeholders three times per year) and CALS Connection (a monthly e-newsletter for CALS alumni). Additionally, we write and distribute news releases about CALS research, outreach and teaching, often coordinating with University Communications to help increase coverage of our CALS stories. We manage @UWMadisonCALS accounts on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Flickr, along with the content on the CALS homepage and websites for CALS news, eCALS, and Grow magazine. Photos posted to our Flickr account are available for use by all faculty and staff for presentations and publications.

Alumni Relations and Event Management

We coordinate the college’s Board of Visitors and collaborate closely with Wisconsin Agricultural and Life Sciences Alumni Association(WALSAA), a 501(c)3 independent alumni organization. Annually, we plan and execute the Honorary Recognition Banquet and Ceremony, a gathering of emeritus faculty with the dean, CALS Awards and CALS Coffees. Additionally, we partner with the Wisconsin Foundation and Alumni Association to raise funds through annual giving, events and major gifts.

Legislative Relations

In cooperation with the UW-Madison Offices of State and Federal Relations, we work with elected officials and agency heads on policy and legislative issues.
