Minutes for December 2, 2019

Chair Warfield called the meeting to order at 1:00.

Chief Diversity Officer Patrick Sims reviewed the Diversity and Inclusion programs; see details about the 4 broad categories in the handout distributed and the 2018-19 annual report of the Division of Diversity, Equity & Educational Achievement:

• Student Success Efforts
• Diversity Infrastructure Efforts
• Staff & Professional Development Efforts
• Creating a Welcoming Climate

A thoughtful discussion ensued, covering student and faculty perceptions and how to incorporate in all elements of campus life (faculty-focused topics included post-tenure review, divisional committee procedures, and student accommodations via McBurney Center)

Warfield and Richard excused themselves for a 15-minute meeting with the chancellor. Returning at 1:49, the UC attended to the minutes of the meeting of November 18, 2019 which were approved by consent.

Warfield adjourned the meeting at 1:55.
