Over the course of its history, Mills Music Library has grown from a 2,500-item departmental collection to a research library of more than 250,000 titles, with special collections containing an additional 250,000 items in all formats. Collection focus: over 65,000 books on all aspects of music, 90,000 scores, 450 video cassettes, and over 497 music journals.
Special collections: Over 120,000 music sound recordings on tapes, 78's, LP's and CD's. Americana, musical theater, recorded sound, classical, jazz, popular, and ethno musical. Houses Tams-Witmark, a collection of American Musical Theater and the Wisconsin Music Archives.
Circulation eligibility: Open to anyone with a UW ID. Music sound recordings are available for use only within the library.
Other: 60 listening stations connected to 60 different channels, enabling groups to listen individually or simultaneously. Hands on listening and viewing facilities also available. Course reserve listing available via the web (see above for address).
