Blackboard Support: How to request a large event (250 - 500 concurrent attendees)

This document provides instruction about the information that Blackboard Support needs to schedule a large event.

Open a case with Blackboard Support as soon as possible as they request at least 2 business days prior to the event, but commonly respond sooner. The case options are:

  • Product: Web Conferencing
  • Issue Topic: Ultra Experience
  • Functional Area: Large Event Request
  • Subject/Error Message: Large Event Request (include URGENT if there is less than 2 business days advance notice)
For multiple events, use this template, provided by Blackboard. For single events, copy the following information into a WiscIT case.
  • Contact (name, email, telephone number)
  • Session name - the user must create the session in advance of submitting the request to Blackboard Support
  • Date, start time, and end time - recurring events are not supported, so include the specifics for all sessions requested in one case to avoid confusion
  • Time Zone
  • Duration - events are scheduled to start 30-minutes before the desired start time to allow early entry and will automatically terminate 5-minutes past the end time (or sooner if all attendees exit the session)
  • Number of expected attendees - an estimate will suffice
  • Guest link/URL - again, the user must create the session in advance of submitting the request to Blackboard Support
At the creation of this document, Blackboard is able to support up to 80 concurrent large events in the North American region.
