Requesting Leave

Instructions to request vacation or other leave

The first step is to contact your supervisor to request leave. Once you have supervisor approval, open your Outlook calendar and create a new event for the days/hours you will be on leave as illustrated below.

(1) Click ‘Calendar’ in Outlook

(2) Click ‘New Meeting’

(3) Specify PATH-Staff-Leave for ‘To…’ field.  If that address isn’t in your auto-complete cache yet you can browse for it by clicking ‘To…’ and (4) searching in Global Address List

(5) Specify <YourName> Out AM/PM for in Subject field.  If you will be out for a portion of the day, enter AM or PM at the end of the title. Omit AM/PM if you will be out the entire day.  Specify Start time and End time for leave.  If you will be out an entire day, rather than check ‘All day event’, specify the actual hours you will be out of the office (e.g. 800AM-430PM).  (6) Click 'Send'.

(7) If you want to view PATH-Staff-Leave calendar (or any calendar for which you have requisite permissions) you can add it by right-clicking ‘My Calendars’>Add Calendar’>Open Shared Calendar…’.  Likewise, in the Outlook Web client, you can add the calendar by right-clicking ‘My Calendars’>Open Calendar’>and type PATH-Staff-Leave in ‘From Directory:’ field and click ‘Open’.

Pathology Administration will approve (or deny) the request and you should receive an Outlook notification indicating that request was accepted (or denied).
