Using cellSens for capturing images, counting and taking measurements

Launch Software and Start Preview

  1. On your desktop, double-click on the "cellSens Dimension" icon to launch the software

  2. Near the top of the window, click the "Acquisition" tab
  3. Just below Acquisition, click on the correct objective and then click "OK"
  4. Set Exposure: Automatic
  5. Set Live/Movie: 1360x1024
  6. Set Snapshot/Process: 4080x3072 (Pixel shift)
  7. In the left column, click "Live" to start the camera

Capture Image

  1. Enter image annotation text in the "Notes" box
  2. Click "Snapshot" to capture an image

  3. Multiple images may be captured and will appear as tables above the preview window.
    1. If you have notations (scale bar, magnification), clock in the "Image" menu and choose "Burn In Info"
    2. At the warning, click "OK" -- your notations will now be saved with the image

  4. When you're ready to save an image, click the save icon
  5. Choose the destination folder and image type, name the file and click the "Save" button

Ki67 Count

  1. To open the counting window, go to View --> Tool Windows --> Object Counting
    cellSens - open Object Counting window
  2. In the Object Counting window, double-click "< Enter class name >".
  3. Choose a name and color for the class

  4. Click the "Count Objects" crosshairs to begin counting.
  5. Click in the preview window to mark points.  Note that the border around the preview is the color of the item currently being counted

Measuring (Poly-line)

  1. To open the measurement window, go to View --> Tool Windows --> Measurement and ROI

  2. In the Measurement and ROI window, click the "Polyline" icon
    cellSens - launch Polyline measurement
  3. Click on the starting endpoint of the measurement line
  4. Click on additional points to draw the line
  5. Right-click on the final point to terminate the line and calculate the length

  6. To change the color or weight of the line, right click on the Polyline row in the Measurement and ROI window and choose "Change Color..." or "Change Link Thickness..."

  7. To change the unit of the measurement, click on the Polyline row in the Measurement and ROI window to highlight it
  8. Click on the "Properties" icon
  9. It the Options window, expand the Measurement and ROI section and click on "Results"
  10. Change the "Prefix of the unit" setting to the desired prefix (m for mm, u for um, etc)

Adjust Scale Bar Settings

  1. Click on Tools --> Options
  2. Expand the "Scale Bar" section and click on "Format"
  3. Set the color and font size of the scale bar text
  4. Set the color, thickness and share of the scale bar

  5. In the "Scale Bar" menu, click "Display"
  6. Set the length of the scale bar
  7. Set the orientation (horizontal or vertical) of the scale bar
  8. Set the position of the scale bar on the image
  9. Click "OK"

Adjust Annotation Settings

  1. Click on Tools --> Options
  2. Expand the "Info Stamp" section and click on "General"
  3. You can set color, size and position of the annotation (including magnification and label)
  4. Click "OK" to return to the live preview window
