Susanne Barnett PharmD, BCPS

Position: Associate Professor of Pharmacy, University of Wisconsin-Madison, School of Pharmacy

Education/Post Graduation Training: PharmD, University of Wisconsin School of Pharmacy, PGY1 residency – Aurora Healthcare

Organizational Involvement: Susie precepts residents in the UW-Madison Integrated Pharmacotherapy Skills Labs teaching rotation. Dr. Barnett’s practice experience has been in the inpatient setting with a focus on critical care medicine and infectious diseases. She currently practices at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Madison and is involved in developing and maintaining antimicrobial stewardship Initiatives. 

Current Projects/Initiatives:  Implementation of decision support tools; validation of a communication rubric to assess pharmacy student patient communication skills

Research Interests: Educational and quality improvement research, including effective communication and learning modalities

Education/Post Graduate Training: BSPharm and PharmD from University of Minnesota College of Pharmacy; Master of Public Health from University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, Pharmacy practice residency at Mayo Medical Center; Post-doctoral fellowship in Clinical Pharmacology and Vaccine Research at Mayo Clinic and Foundation

Organizational Involvement: Fellow of ACCP. Member of APhA (currently Contributing Editor for Journal of the American Pharmacists Association), the Society of Infectious Diseases Pharmacists, and Pharmacy Society of Wisconsin. Member of the Wisconsin Council on Immunization Practices

Research Interests: Vaccine responses in immunosuppressed populations; increasing the role of pharmacists for immunization delivery
