Using the Dashboard Quick Search

Your home dashboard in 25Live Pro features an array of customizable widgets, including Quick Search. This widget allows you to search for events, locations, resources, and organizations.

Type in one or more keywords for the type of object you want to search for and use the search button(s) to continue. Your search results will be displayed in the search section.

Performing a Keyword Quick Search

Navigate to the Search section by using the Go to Search button in the top navigation bar on every page of 25Live. There is also a Search link in the More menu in the top navigation. The Search section defaults to the Quick Search mode.

  1. Choose the search type. Using the drop-down menu, you can choose to search for Events, Locations, or Organizations.

Use the drop-down menu to choose a search area

  2. Enter keywords. Enter one or more keywords.
  3. Run the search. Use the Search button or your Enter or Return key to view your search results.

Adding Filters with More Options

Just as you did for simple keyword searches, navigate to the Search section by using the Go to Search link in the top navigation bar on every page of 25Live. There is also a Search link in the More menu in the top navigation.

To add filters to searches:

  1. Click on More Options. After typing keyword(s) into the search field, use the More Options button to reveal available filter areas.
  2. Choose a filter area. The image below displays the options when searching for Locations:

Choose a filter area to reveal available selections
Each listed filter area is a link you can use to show a list of filter choices.

  3. Select filters. Select as many filters as you need (or use the Select All link). Use the Select None link if you want to clear your choices.

Clicking on an option name reveals filters you can add to narrow your search

Tips: Selecting Search Filters

  • Selecting too many filters may yield too few results to find what you’re looking for. It’s best to initially select fewer filters and then add more as needed.
  • Some areas provide a drop-down menu and/or an Only Favorites button to narrow filter choices.
  • Other areas (such as Capacity when searching for Locations) require you to enter values.
  • Add other filters or close the display. Close the filter display, and repeat to add more filters from other areas.
  • Run the search. Use the Search button or your Enter or Return key to view your search results.

Using Advanced Search Options

Just as you did for simple keyword searches, navigate to the Search section by using the Go to Search link in the top navigation bar on every page of 25Live. There is also a Search link in the More menu in the top navigation.

To Perform an Advanced Search

  1. Switch to the Advanced Search section. Use the Advanced Search link to reveal the advanced search area.

Use the toggle to switch to Advanced Search mode.

  2. Add search criteria. The Add Criteria button shows a drop-down menu with the items available to build your search. Add as many criteria as needed.
    • Tip: Don't Add Too Many Criteria. Selecting too many criteria may yield too few results to find what you’re looking for. It’s best to initially select fewer and then add more as needed.
  3. Complete options for each criterion. Check and complete any fields for operators, relationships, or other details in each criterion block you add.
  4. Use operators if you wish to add more criteria. There are operators between each criterion block. You can adjust each to indicate whether the relationship between each item should be "and" or "or."

You can adjust the relationship between each block with operators

  5. Run the search. Use the Search button to view search results. To clear your advanced search, use the X symbol and/or check marks to remove criteria, or use the Reset link.

Searching for Class Events

After making a change to a meeting pattern in SIS, it is important to check that the change came through properly to 25Live. After the Schedule of Classes is published, LYNX (the transactional interface between SIS and 25Live Pro) is always processing in the background and will capture changes made in SIS to Facility ID, time, day, or requested room capacity. LYNX's updates do not happen in real-time but typically are made within a few minutes of the triggering change. You can search for classes easily by using the search feature in 25Live.

Please note: Classes not assigned to a GA room will not have a class event in 25Live.

When classes are imported into 25Live, each class event uses the same naming logic: “Subject Code - Catalog Number - Section Number - CS (If combined) - Class Number - Term.”

Examples

To locate where Life Science Communication 251 Lecture 001 was being taught in Fall 2023 (Term code: 1242), enter the search terms: "120 251 001 24731 1242”:

Typing in just the class number itself can also be used for the search to return the same results.

Including only the subject and catalog numbers for a course in the search will return all events with those subject and catalog numbers, including final exam events and past events:

Requests for Room Assignments

After LYNX is turned on for a term, any changes to the room assignments of courses should be captured in a matter of minutes.

If you search for a class after an update was made and saved in SIS but find the previous room assignment is still listed in the location column for the class event in 25Live, then the change has not been captured by the LYNX process yet. Users should log out of 25Live, refresh the web page in your browser, and check 25Live again.

If the location column is blank for the course, then this means either a 0000 GA RM was requested in SIS or there was a conflict with the scheduling of the new room. This often happens when conducting rooms swaps as LYNX does not process classroom changes simultaneously and mistakenly will think there is a conflict. Users should try re-assigning the room in SIS again or contact Curricular Services for assistance.
