ECMS - Troubleshooting "Could not find an application window that matches..."

This error might occur when an end-user is using an AppGetTree based LearnMode against a particular web page (often the HRS' "Employee Information (ImageNow)" page). The issue is almost always as described in ECMS - Errors when capturing documents relying on Google Chrome and is fundamentally that the user does not have the page loaded in chrome in the foreground (not minimized) and the content to be scraped is the active tab. However it could also be other things. Below is the standard troubleshooting approach I use when someone reports the issue.

• Generalized Error: "Could not find an application window that matches the '<application plan name>' application plan"
• Example Specific Error: "Could not find an application window that matches the 'A_OHR_Pfile_Learn_SMPH_Chrome1' application plan"

Steps to follow:

1. In Google Chrome:
   1. Update your version of chrome to the newest version.
   2. Navigate to the page the end-user is scraping from. In the specific example above it is the Employee Information (ImageNow) page in https://hrs.wisconsin.edu/
   3. Enter an EmplID or Name and select a position from the results (so you have data to test against). Generally, I enter my own EmplID.
   4. Make sure chrome is in the foreground and the tab with the data to be scraped is the active tab.
      Tip: to keep Chrome and Perceptive Content client open in the same screen, it may require resizing of the windows.
2. In the Perceptive Content Management Console:
   1. Open the named application plan (in the specific example: A_OHR_Pfile_Learn_SMPH_Chrome1)
      1. Select Department: Default
      2. [+] Application Plans
         • LearnMode: A_OHR_Pfile_Learn_SMPH_Chrome1
   2. Select the _/Map\_ tab
   3. Select the (Test Map) button under the Document Map section
3. Results
   • You should receive a Test Map window with the data scraped from the record presented in the Google Chrome tab.
   • If you get the error message indicating it could not find an application window that matches your application plan, then the web application has most likely been updated and/or the title of the page has changed. Either update the title of the page in the application plan or restore the original title on the web page itself. The specific correction depends on a number of factors outside the scope of this KB.
