RStudio Pilot migration – re-publishing your app

This article details the steps to re-publish your shiny app from the data-viz.it.wisc.edu RStudio Connect server to the public shinyapps.io server.

Re-publishing your Shiny app on shinyapps.io

If you want to continue having your Shiny app published after the pilot ends, you will need to move it from the data-viz.it.wisc.edu server to the server at shinyapps.io. The basic tier is free of charge and lets you deploy up to 5 apps and 25 active hours per month.

Publishing to shinyapps.io involves the same steps you followed to publish to data-viz.it.wisc.edu:

  1. Create an account with shinyapps.io

  2. Follow the directions here to configure your shinyapps.io account.

  3. When you are ready to publish, open RStudio Preferences, go to the Preferences tab, select your shinyapps.io account, click Connect.

  4. When you are ready to publish, click the Publish button. Your Shiny app will deploy to shinyapps.io.
