Dry Ice Disposal in Russell Labs
This document describes how to properly dispose of dry ice, and the damage that can happen if you do not dispose of it properly.
Audience
- Russell Labs faculty, staff, and students; Hub staff
Overview
If you leave dry ice in the lab sinks, the sinks will break due to the temperature differential.
Your lab will lose money and time, because your lab will have to buy a new sink and wait for Facilities to install it.
Approved Methods for Disposing of Dry Ice
- Contact the Building Manager to have them pick up the dry ice.
- Leave the dry ice in the Styrofoam container it came in and it will dissipate over time.
