Russell Labs faculty, staff and students can use the following software made available via campus license agreements:
ESRI Arc/GIS (please visit http://www.geoalliance.wisc.edu/esri-licenses/ for questions about student licenses).
ERDAS Imagine (please visit http://www.geoalliance.wisc.edu/erdas-licenses/ for questions about licensing).

License Server: These software packages require you to connect to a license server before, during or after installation.
Our license server at Russell Labs is dmv.russell.wisc.edu.

Installation: The installation software is located on dmv in the “software” share.
You need a Russell Labs account to login and access files on the server. This is most easily done with a computer in the building on a wired connection. If you are using wireless or are connecting from outside of Russell Labs, you will need to first logon to the departmental VPN.

On Windows, click Start, in the box below All Programs type the following:
\\dmv\software
You can also browse to the server dmv and the software folder through Windows Explorer.
Notes:
Versions: We attempt to have the latest stable versions of the software available on dmv.  If you would like a different version of a particular software package installed, please contact us to discuss your options.

ESRI: during installation, ESRI will prompt you for the license options and enter dmv as the network license server. For more information about using the Arc/GIS desktop administrator, please see http://resources.esri.com/help/9.3/arcgisdesktop/installGuides/ArcGIS_Desktop/The_Administrator.htm

ENVI: Point to dmv using the license.dat or .lic file. If you don’t have a network license file, contact help@russell.wisc.edu.

IDL: Interactive Data Language is licensed through DoIT and is upgraded on or about April 1st every year (see http://techstore.doit.wisc.edu/product.asp?login=D&itemnum=C14696)
Multiple lab groups participate in this license and will be contacted to provide account information at the end of March when RLIT hears from DoIT about the costs of renewing the license.

Matlab: There are two options for MatLab:
