LastPass - What if I Already Have a LastPass Account?
1Password is replacing LastPass as UW-Madison's supported Password Manager. 1Password was selected for its intuitive user-friendly interface, robust set of features, and excellent track record in safeguarding sensitive data.
Current LastPass users are being invited to 1Password starting in December 2024. LastPass will remain active until May 2025. For more information and updates, refer to the transition FAQ: 1Password - LastPass Transition FAQs
Check LastPass Account Type and Information
If you already have a LastPass Enterprise account, your access will not be impacted by this rollout. However, the LastPass account you currently have may not be an Enterprise account. There are three ways to determine if an Enterprise account has been enabled for your @wisc.edu email addresses.
You can check your LastPass Enterprise Status through your Wisc Account Administration Page (see the screenshots under Opting-in and Activating Your LastPass Enterprise Account).
Log into your existing LastPass account to check your account type. In the upper right hand corner of your Vault, your account type is listed below your LastPass email address. If your account is an Enterprise account, you will be labeled as an Enterprise User, if your account is a Premium account, you will be labeled as a Premium User, or if your account is a Free account, you will be labeled as a Free User.
Log into your existing LastPass account and navigate to Account Settings > Account Information > Type from within your Vault. A LastPass Enterprise user’s account type will be listed as LastPass User : UW–Madison, while an LastPass Premium user’s account type will be listed as LastPass Premium User, and a LastPass Free user’s account type will be listed as LastPass Free User.
