1Password - Managed vs Unmanaged Accounts
Managed accounts exist within the UW–Madison 1Password instance. Unmanaged accounts are free personal accounts. Key differences of these account types:

Who should use a Managed account?
Users who are saving university related passwords and/or are sharing passwords with other UW-Madison users should use a Managed account.
Who should use an Unmanaged account?
Users who are only saving personal passwords, such as for bank accounts or social media sites, should use an Unmanaged account.
Can I have both a Managed and Unmanaged account?
Yes! Best practice is to stored university related passwords in your Managed account, and personal passwords in your Unmanaged account. 1Password allows you to be signed into multiple accounts at the same time. See 1Password - Login to multiple accounts for more information.
How do I sign up for these accounts?
1Password accounts are being made available to existing LastPass users first to give as much time as possible to transition. Sign up mechanisms for Managed and Unmanaged accounts will be made available in the future.
