UW–Madison offers two types of 1Password accounts: University accounts and Families accounts. The key differences between these account types are outlined below to help you choose the best option for your needs.

A Families account is ideal for:
- Saving personal passwords, such as bank accounts or social media logins.
- Sharing passwords with family members.
Examples of Families Account Use:
- Managing personal financial accounts securely.
- Organizing private, non-university passwords.
Can I Have Both a University and Families Account?
Yes! Best practices include:
- Using your University account for university-related passwords.
- Using your Families account for personal passwords.
