CyberArk Privilege Cloud - Getting Started Guide

This guide is the recommended starting point for users who are new to CyberArk Privilege Cloud.

CyberArk's Privilege Cloud solution is a SaaS Privilege Access Management tool implemented at UW-Madison. It provides a highly secure environment for storing and managing accounts with privileged access. This guide serves as a starting point for new users but is also an excellent reference with links to many KB documents supporting Privilege Cloud.

Getting Access to Privilege Cloud

Only users who have been provisioned are able to login to Privilege Cloud. Users are provisioned by a Safe Manager designated for their team. Safe Managers are distributed Privilege Cloud administrators who can add other users, create Safes, and should be the first contact for questions related to Privilege Cloud.

Logging in to Privilege Cloud

The UW-Madison instance of Privilege Cloud is accessible at http://uwmadison.cyberark.cloud/. Provisioned users will login with their NetID credentials.

See CyberArk Privilege Cloud - Login to Privilege Cloud for more details.

View Accounts

Each user can view the accounts they have access to from the Accounts View page, under Accounts > Accounts & Requests > Accounts View.

Menu Accounts View

See CyberArk Privilege Cloud - View Accounts for more details.

Search Accounts

Users and teams that have a significant number of vaulted accounts can leverage search functionality to quickly find and use accounts. Users can define customized views according to their requirements and save them, so that search results are displayed in one quick step.

Search for Accounts

See CyberArk Privilege Cloud - Search Accounts for more details.

Add Accounts

Users with the appropriate Safe permissions are able to vault new accounts in Privilege Cloud. Users with this ability will see an "Add Account" button in the upper right corner of the Accounts View page.

Add account button

This launches the "Add account" wizard which walks through several steps to vault your account, including picking the System Type, selecting a Platform, choosing a Safe, and adding the Account Details.

Add account wizard

See CyberArk Privilege Cloud - Add an Account for more details.

Retrieve account passwords

While you are using Privilege Cloud to manage your privileged accounts, you might not want to connect to your devices through it. In this case, you can show and copy a password for a specific account in the Privilege Cloud Portal, and connect to the device independently.

To show and copy a password:

  1. In the Privilege Cloud Portal, locate and click the account from the list.

  2. From the account menu, on the top right side, click Show.

Depending on the Account and Safe configuration, options may be different or limited.

See CyberArk Privilege Cloud - Retrieve Account Passwords for more details.
