How to track the UW accessible shuttle on a mobile app

This document explains how to set up an account, track, and set up notifications for the the UW campus accessible shuttle using the Here Comes the Bus mobile app.

Step 1: Set up an account on Here Comes the Bus

  1. Download and install the Here Comes the Bus mobile app.

  2. Open the app. Tap Sign Up! at the bottom of the screen.

  3. The next screen will display a welcome message. Tap Continue.

  4. The next screen will ask for a school district code. Tap I have the Code.

  5. On the next screen, enter an email address, first name, last name, and school district code. For the school district code, enter 29011. Accept the Terms of Use Agreement and tap Continue.

  6. A pop-up dialogue box will ask you to confirm that you are registering for the University of Wisconsin. Tap Confirm.

  7. You will be prompted to create a password. Follow the instructions to choose a password. Then tap Confirm Password.

  8. The next screen will ask you to check your email for a confirmation email. Check the email you used to set up your account to activate your account.

Step 2: Add the accessible shuttle to your account

  1. Open the Here Comes the Bus mobile app. Log in with the email address and password you used to register the account, and school code 29011. Tap Login.

  2. You will be prompted to create a unique name to identify your mobile device to manage notifications. After doing this, tap Save.

  3. On the next screen, you will be prompted to enter a last name and student ID. In the last name field, type in Shuttle. In the student ID field, type in 1848. (Do not type in your actual last name or student ID.) Then tap Add Student.

  4. On the next two screens, just tap Continue.

  5. A confirmation screen will appear when the UW accessible shuttle is successfully added to your account.

Step 3: Set up notifications for the accessible shuttle

  1. After adding the accessible shuttle to your account, tap Add activity for Shuttle.

  2. There is a search bar under "Search for Activities." Do not type anything into the search bar: just tap the magnifying glass icon. When UW ACCESSIBLE CIRCULATOR SHUTTLE appears, tap the shuttle name. Then tap Add Selected Activity.

  3. On the next screen you can set up notification triggers, including times and days you want to receive alerts when the accessible shuttle leaves or enters a designated zone. After adjusting the settings, tap Next.

  4. On the next screen, you can choose to receive notifications via email, via the app, or both. After adjusting the settings, tap Next.

  5. You will be prompted to select or add a zone on the next page. Select Add new address.

  6. The next screen will allow you to pinpoint a location and create a zone. Depending on your settings, you will receive notifications when the accessible shuttle enters and/or leaves this zone. Zoom in to an approximate location on the map and use the slider tool to adjust the circumference of the zone. (Tip: a smaller zone may be more useful than a larger zone.) After the zone is adjusted to your preferences, tap Next.

  7. Create a unique name for the zone on the next screen. Then tap Next.

  8. Confirm your shuttle zone and notification details on the next screen. Then tap Done.

  9. You have successfully set up shuttle notifications. Tap Done.
