The Integration Platform

The Integration Platform, a service offering provided by the Division of Information Technology (DoIT), is a suite of cloud services that enable application integration development and execution using on-premises and cloud-based data sources. Platform users can build and schedule integrations through a web browser using a low-code visual interface and templates. It is one of the newer types of cloud-based system offerings known as Integration Platform as a Service or iPaaS.

The Integration Platform has several advantages over the previous practice of using on-premises scripts and servers for integrations:

  • Low-Code GUI tools for creating integrations lowers the barrier of entry for new integrators
  • All integrations are hosted in one place; no need for each integration group to host their own server (or servers) to store and run scripts
  • Simplified scheduling interface

Overall, iPaaS removes many of the barriers from integration work, allowing "community integrators" to implement and build alongside teams specializing in the practice.

The Integration Platform is the University of Wisconsin-Madison's preferred option for creating integrations, and is free to use for any UW-Madison personnel. The Enterprise Integration Team within DoIT's Application Infrastructure Services (AIS) group supports IICS, provides technical assistance, and manages the administration of its architecture.

Our platform is Informatica's Intelligent Cloud Services (IICS) and is provided through contract with Informatica. IICS is also supported by the Universities of Wisconsin System. Contact information for both UW-Madison and the Universities of Wisconsin System is available on the Integration Platform Contact Us page.
