How to Download SAS

The following article provides instructions (and corresponding screenshots) on how to download SAS.

Download SAS

  1. Access the Campus Software Library
  2. Download discs 1-8. You will have to download each disc separately.
  3. For each disc, find your downloaded file in the download bar, and click the arrow to reveal a drop-down menu.
  4. From the menu, select Show in folder.

  5. Relocate the file to the Desktop for ease of access.
  6. In your system's File Explorer, navigate to disc one's zip file. Right-click on the file
  7. From the menu that appears, select 7-Zip (or, alternatively Unzip).
  8. Then select Extract files... from the pop-up menu.

  9. Repeat this same process (steps 6-8) for the remaining seven disc files.
  10. In the same Explorer window, find and click on disc one's extracted file.
  11. Locate and double-click on the setup application file. This file will be identifiable by having Application as its file type (see the portion outlined in red in the example image below). Note: All eight discs must be downloaded and extracted in order for this step to work.

  12. When prompted by User Account Control, click Yes to allow SAS to make changes to your device.

  13. You should see a blue progress bar in the SAS Deployment Wizard as the application downloads.
  14. After the download is complete, you should select a language in which to view the SAS Deployment Wizard from the drop-down menu.

  15. A menu should appear asking you to select a task. In the End User Tasks section, select the Install SAS software option.

  16. Click Next.
  17. Then select the location to which you want to save your file.
  18. Click Next.
  19. From the deployment options, choose Install SAS Foundation and Related.
  20. Click Next.
  21. From the drop-down menu toward the top of the window, select SAS Foundation and related software.
  22. Click Next.
  23. In the Deployment Wizard window, specify the full path to your SAS installation file by clicking Browse...
  24. Then click Next.
  25. In the next window, click Select All ensure that all languages are selected. Note: Do not deselect or Clear All; doing so will lead to installation issues. SAS products, including the base product, should be downloaded with all languages available.
  26. Click Next.
  27. Ensure the Language (Region) [Locale] drop-down is set to your preferred language before clicking Next again.

  28. Once the Deployment Wizard has finished examining the file system, click Next.
  29. As the product installs, you will be able to see how far along in the process it is in the Overall Progress bar at the bottom of the window. If at any point, you need to stop the installation process, you can click the Stop button.
  30. The installer will periodically pause to request the "next disc." Simply navigate to your computer's files by clicking Browse... in order to select the correct disc file (reminder that these were downloaded and unzipped earlier in this process).
  31. Click OK.

  32. Once the deployment is marked complete, with all files accompanied by a Complete symbol (white checkmark inside a green circle), click Next.
  33. The SAS Deployment Wizard will then display Additional Resources. These can be helpful, and it is recommended that you take advantage.
  34. Click Finish.
  35. To open the program, search in your computer for SAS IML Studio.
  36. Select the appropriate option for how you wish to proceed.
