DoIT Shared Tools - JIRA - Request a JIRA Project (DoIT and Affiliates Only)

Due to licensing limitations, JIRA projects can only be created for UW DoIT and their affiliates. Please refer to this link to purchase your own instance of JIRA.

How to Request a JIRA Project

Email your request to st-help@doit.wisc.edu with the following information:

Option 1: Clone An Existing JIRA Project

  1. Reference a specific JIRA project that you would like to "clone".
    (e.g. An existing project where the workflows, issue schemes, and configurations are most useful for your purposes)
  2. What key have you selected for your new JIRA project? 
    (example: HRS-1, UWKB-1, GENLIBSYS-1, SIS-1)
  3. What name would you like for the project?
    (Maximum of 30 characters. The project name will be displayed on the Dashboard.)
  4. Who should be the Project Administrator?
  5. What is the NetID of the Project Administrator?
  6. What is the email address of the Project Administrator?

Click the text box to select all, copy with Ctrl + C.

Option 2: Create a Brand New JIRA Project 

  1. What name would you like for the project?
    (Maximum of 30 characters. The project name will be displayed on the Dashboard.)
  2. What key would you like for the project?
    (Maximum of 10 characters. The key will be used as the prefix of this project's issue keys (e.g. 'TST-1'). The project key cannot be changed after the project is created.)
  3. Who should be the Project Administrator?
  4. What is the NetID of the Project Administrator?
  5. What is the email address of the Project Administrator?
  6. What Style of Jira Project?
    (Issue Tracker, Development or Agile Development)
  7. Jira Category (for grouping your Projects)

Click the text box to select all, copy with Ctrl + C.

Requests for Project Customization

JIRA Admins are very, very strongly discouraged by management to make customizations to workflows and configuration schemes. 

Please forward your requests to Shared Tools management should you wish to appeal.
