DoIT Jira and Confluence Service Change - Timeline and Roles & Responsibilities

This project will utilize a phased communication approach. We will start communications in April 2023 and will be in contact with all groups by May 2023. We’ll periodically share broader updates and announcements with internal and adjacent IT staff.

High-level timeline of the retirement plans

  • April 1, 2023 – No new projects or spaces will created. No new features or additional plugins will be added. 

  • April-May 2023 – Service change announcements and all active Jira project and Confluence space owners will be contacted

  • Every 90 days reminders, additional resources, and lunch and learns will be provided 

  • December 13, 2024 – All users migrate to alternatives 

  • January 31, 2025 – Full retirement of the Jira and Confluence services

As of 02/01/2022, Atlassian will only provide security bug fixes for critical vulnerabilities

No new features or additional plugins will be added to the on-premise DoIT Jira and Confluence instances

Extend the existing on-premise licenses as far as possible

As of 04/01/2023, no new Jira projects or Confluence spaces will be created

Set Goals & Begin Testing

Review the timeline and set goals for your migration. Discuss how this affects other priorities

As of January 2024, switch to data center licensing

Select Products & Start to Migrate

Confirm how to migrate content, explore new features, and if needed, start the procurement process
