DoIT Shared Tools - JIRA - Project Reporting

Suggestions and Tips on reporting on projects from Jira.

Searching is Key

JIRA has a variety of ways to report out the status of projects and initiatives. The basic skill for all these ways is making a search in Jira that you can copy for the basis of your report.

Advanced Jira Searching is important. Though a simpler way is to do a basic search and then switch to advanced to get the search code to copy.

Identify Your Audience

Depending on who will be need to view the status.

  1. If your audience are regular Jira Users you can build a Shared Dashboard:

  2. If your audience are NOT regular Jira Users:

    • The Doit Wiki has a page type called "JIRA Report" you can select when making a page.
      • This can work with just one project or any JIRA Query you can create

    • There is also a Jira Macro you can use to build your own page. Start by editing a page and typing {jira
      • This will open a search macro function where you can find all the tools used to build the page.
