Vilas Hall SJMC Printing

Information on setting up School of Journalism and Mass Communication printing on your computer.

These instructions are for personally owned devices only. Faculty and staff departmentally provided computers should go through the Workspace ONE Intelligent Hub.

macOS

Installer packages have been created for each printer. Click the button for the printer(s) you want, extract the zip file that downloads, then run the installer.

Windows

Lab and Graduate Lounge Printers

Go to Printer & Scanners in Settings

Click Add a printer or scanner

Windows will search for he printer, and after a few seconds you can click The printer I want isn't listed. Click that.

Select Add a printer using a TCP/IP address or hostname, then click Next.

Use the following table to select the hostname for the printer you want to add:

Use the chosen hostname in the Hostname or IP address field, and click Next.

You should see a process bar and the text Contacting printer...

If Windows cannot find the printer it is likely you are not on a campus network. You must be on campus for printing to work.

Windows should automatically detect and install the correct drivers for the printer you are installing, and then provide you with a printer name, which you can change if desired. Click Next, and make sure the printer is not shared. You are done.

Office Copier

This installation is time consuming and can be challenging. If you are printing a large enough volume that you need to use the copier (TAs printing course documents, etc.) it is recommended you print from one of the graduate lounge printers where the copier is already set up.

You will need to download the appropriate driver from this location:

Scroll to Software & Drivers, select your operating system, and download the UFRII driver. The full name is typicallt something like "Generic_Plus_UFRII_vX.XX_Set-up_x64.exe"

Follow the images below to set up the copier.

First, double click the file you downloaded to extract the setup files, then from the new folder double click Setup. Choose your language, and accept the license.

Select Custom in Printer Setup, then click Next.

Install only the UFR II Printer Driver, then click Next.

Check only the iR-ADV (Type 50) driver. Be sure to uncheck Auto Select, then click Next.

Change the Printer Name to SJMC Front Office Copier, and click Add Port... to add a new printer port.

Select Standard TCP/IP Port, then click OK.

Click Next.

Enter 144.92.144.17, for the IP Address, then click Next.

Click Finish.

You can change the default printer name is you wish, then click Next.

Click Start.

Click Exit.

The printer is installed, but you need to make a couple settings changes. Go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices  > Printers & scanners, click the copier, then click  Printer properties, and select the Device Settings tab.

In Other Settings make sure User Management is set to Off. Click Apply/OK.
(If you are prompted to enter a user ID when you print it is because you did not complete this step.

You are done!
