SMPH Medical Student Health Link Remote Access

Instructions for SMPH students to obtain remote access to Health Link from ONE personally owned Windows, or Apple laptop device.  Read through this information carefully and follow each step if you would like to obtain remote access to Health Link.

Step 1 - Agreement and Training

Upon approval, a confirmation email will be sent to the email address entered on the form, from the SMPH Shared Services IT ticketing system (Jira). Step 2 - Computer Enrollment can (and should) be completed, while waiting for confirmation email.

Please be patient!  It can take several days for the request to be processed.  Typical turnaround time is within five business days, but high volume can extend this time frame.

NOTE:  You will not be able to connect to SMPH VPN (Step 3) until you have received a confirmation email, and Step 2 - Computer Enrollment has been completed.

Step 2 - Computer Enrollment

  • Update your computer's operating system.

To meet the security requirements, described in the acknowledgment and enrollment instructions, your device's Operating System must be at, or above the minimum required version, prior to enrolling your device.  See the following:

  • Enable encryption.

To meet the security requirements, described in the acknowledgment and enrollment instructions, your device must be encrypted with either Bitlocker drive encryption (for Windows OS) or FileVault encryption (for macOS).

NOTE: For Windows OS users, if your computer is running the Home edition version, you must upgrade to the Education version of Windows OS.  The Bitlocker device encryption that comes with Windows Home edition is not supported.

      • Microsoft offers Windows 11 Education for free to students.  See the following:
