Accessing your SMPH Mac desktop from a Windows device

Instructions for remotely connecting to a Mac computer from a Windows device.

STEP 1 - Configure the Mac you are connecting to, for remote access.

  • From the Apple Menu, choose System Settings…

  • Select General from the (right) side menu, and choose Sharing.

  • In the Sharing menu, under Advanced, enable Remote Management by clicking the slider, then select the "i" symbol.

  • Under Allow access for, click the + symbol, then Select your user account from the list.

  • Enable all of the listed access items by clicking the slider, click OK, then click Done.

STEP 2 - Connect to the Mac from your Windows computer.

  • Confirm - that the Mac you are connecting to is powered on, and connected to the wired network.

  • Confirm - that the Windows device you are using to connect to the Mac is connected to, either the approved (SMPH) wired network, or the VPN (via GlobalProtect).

  • Once installed, open VNC Viewer and type in the IP address of the Mac computer you are attempting to connect to, and then press Enter on the keyboard.

  • In the Identity Check window, check the box next to “Don’t warn me…” and click Continue.

  • Enter the Username and Password that you use for logging into the Mac computer, then click OK to start viewing and controlling the Mac computer.
