The software I need isn't part of the current software catalog. Can I get it added?
If your project needs software not yet part of our software catalog, we can work with you to get that installed. As Platform X is a protected environment, you have limited ability to install software yourselves. The Infrastructure Support team can assist you.
Please contact: platformx-support@mailplus.wisc.edu for assistance.
Installing Conda on Windows or Linux
Not sure if you need Miniconda or Anaconda? Check out conda documentation for how to choose.
Windows
- Navigate to Miniconda Downloads or Anaconda Downloads on a browser locally (not vm)
- Find the version you wish to install, for this example we will used Windows 64-bit. Right click on the Miniconda for Windows 64-bit link and select copy link address
- Open a browser on your VM and paste the copy linked address into the address bar and press return.
- Once downloaded, navigate to the file and open
- Select the defaults and choose install
- Once installation is complete deselect the Getting Started checkboxes and select next and finish.
Linux
-
Download the installer:
- Miniconda installer for Linux
- Anaconda installer for Linux -
In your terminal window, run:
Miniconda:
bash Miniconda3-latest-Linux-x86_64.sh
Anaconda:
bash Anaconda-latest-Linux-x86_64.sh
-
Follow the prompts on the installer screens. If you are unsure about any setting, accept the defaults. You can change them later.
-
To make the changes take effect, close and then re-open your terminal window.
-
Test your installation. In your terminal window or Anaconda Prompt, run the command
conda list
A list of installed packages appears if it has been installed correctly.
