REDCap: Set a Custom Email Display Name

REDCap allows you to send automated emails from your project. Because of UW-Madison firewall settings, all emails sent from REDCap will come from redcap@ictr.wisc.edu. However, you can set a custom display name that will show up in a recipient's inbox.

Custom display names can be set for the following kinds of automated emails:

    • Automated survey invitations (ASIs)
    • Survey invitations triggered in other ways (e.g. Participant List, manual trigger)
    • Alerts and Notifications
    • Survey completion notifications

When you are setting up the text and conditions for your email, you will see a "Display Name" field for the "From" email settings. (Reminder: The email you set from the drop-down will only function as the reply-to email address! The email will actually be sent from redcap@ictr.wisc.edu. This cannot be changed.)

The 'Display Name' field will display in someone's inbox. Note that whatever you choose for the email address will only function as a reply-to email.
