Using the SMPH Departmental VPN
SMPH has created a mechanism to allow each department to provide a dedicated VPN service that allows users in that department to access some network services. After an individual has their NetID added to the appropriate Manifest group and then connects to the SMPH VPN portal they will be allocated an IP number in a range that allows access to departmental resources. There are a few steps involved:
Running and adding users to the VPN used by SMPH departments for access to network resources
Step 1: Configuring access by the department:
- Each department is assigned a Manifest group that is used to control which users are allowed to connect to that department's VPN service. The groups are in a path created for SMPH VPN access.
The department IT manager adds (or removes) NetIDs to the Manifest group members as needed:
Step 2: Users run the Global Protect VPN client and authenticate to the SMPH VPN portal (smphsf.vpn.wisc.edu) using their NetID:
