Using the HRMed Report Combo Builder
This document provides a brief overview of the report Combo Builder feature of the SMPH HRMed system.
Overview
The report Combo Builder in SMPH's HRMed system is a way to combine Definitions (user-created data-driven groups of individuals) in various ways to create more complex reports.
Using Combo Builder
Accessing Combo Builder
Navigate to Combo Builder by clicking the Reports button in the Human Resources section, then clicking the Combo Builder button in the Custom section.
Combo Builder Interface
The Combo Builder uses three main sections to build reports:
- Match ALL of the following - individuals will be included in the report if they match every selected option in this section. For example, if you selected the "Deans" and "Faculty" options, you would get a report of individuals who have both a faculty appointment and a dean appointment.
- Match ANY of the following - individuals will be included in the report if they match any of the selected options in this section. For example, if you selected the "Deans" and "Faculty" options, you would get a report of individuals who have a faculty appointment or a dean appointment.
- Note: This is not an "exclusive or": individuals who match both Definitions would be included.
- Subtract from above - individuals who would otherwise be included in the report based on the selections in Match ALL and Match ANY will be excluded from the report if they match any of the selected options in this section. For example, if you selected "Faculty" in Match ALL and selected "UWMF" in Subtract, you would get a report of all individuals who have a faculty appointment and do not have any UWMF jobs.
Example uses
Dual-employed faculty
Match ALL of the following: Faculty + UW + UWMF
This report would include all individuals who have faculty titles and have a UW appointment and have a UWMF appointment. Note that not every UWMF job counts towards dual employment, so be sure to review the report for accuracy.
Preferential Ballot rosters with non-appointment relationships
Match ANY of the following: Joint Executive + Preferential Ballot Voters + Tenure
This report would include all individuals for the selected department who have a Joint Executive relationship or are in an eligible appointment or have tenure.
Exporting reports
Once you've set up the report you need, click on the Excel icon in the top right corner to download the report as an Excel spreadsheet. Exported spreadsheets contain much more information than can fit in an HRMed page.
Support
Use the HRMed Support Portal for any questions, problems, or suggestions regarding HRMed.
