Minutes for December 14, 2020

Chair Wolf called the meeting to order at 1:30 pm.

Sandgren moved to approve the minutes of December 7, 2020. Seconded. Passed.

Heather Daniels, Secretary of the Faculty, reported that the Budget Committee has agreed to the changes suggested to their functions regarding compensation and economic benefits.

Bill Karpus, Dean of the Graduate School, discussed changing the term length on members of the Graduate Faculty Executive Committee (GFEC) from 4 years to 3 years. He will bring a proposal back to the University Committee for consideration.

Karl Scholz, Provost, discussed the charge meeting of the Campus Committee on Diversity Education and Training. The committee is charged with surveying resources at UW-Madison and externally. Based on the survey, they will recommend and perhaps develop materials that allow individuals to engage in diversity, equity and inclusion issues.

Sandgren moved to convene in closed session pursuant to Wis. Stats. 19.85(1)(c) and (f) to discuss a waiver and grievances. Seconded. Passed at 2:20 pm. One dual role waiver was approved. 

Tracy moved to convene in open session. Seconded. Passed at 3:23 pm.
