Minutes for June 7, 2021

Chair Sandgren convened the meeting at 1:30.

The minutes of the meeting of May 24, 2021 were approved by consent.

Chancellor Blank remarked that new Athletic Director Chris McIntosh arrives just in time to deal with many issues that could bring significant changes to collegiate athletics. The Committee on Joint Finance passed the UW System budget. There is no new, flexible GPR funds from the state, and other flexibilities were dropped. $2 million new funds are allocated for extension agents. The tuition freeze will end, but that will only generate a small amount of new money.

Provost Scholz announced that the Professor of Practice guidelines are now available and schools/colleges are working on their policies. Christopher Walker is the new Director of the Division of the Arts.

Rob Cramer, Interim Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration, introduced himself to the committee. UW-Madison is working with UW System to redo the questioned procurement contract with regards to the Administrative Transformation Project (ATP). The capital budget for the state is scheduled for June 8. UW-Madison has two building requests: one for the College of Letters & Science and one for the College of Engineering.

Masters moved to convene in closed session; it was seconded and approved at 2:51 pm.

Sandgren moved to go into open session; it was seconded and approved at 3:35 pm. Three tenure clock extensions and several committee appointments were approved.

Chair Sandgren adjourned the meeting at 3:13 pm.
