Graduate Programs: Scholarship & Fellowship Thank You Letters

Many graduate student scholarship and fellowships require the submission of a thank you note to the donor and/or their designee. This process is vital to our donors as they are always interested in how their gift is making an impact in the School of Human Ecology. The details below outline the steps for graduate students to complete their thank you letter.

ACCEPT SCHOLARSHIP/FELLOWSHIP

  • If your award is processed through the WiSH scholarship system, then you will need to go into WiSH (www.scholarships.wisc.edu) and login to accept your award
  • In the award email or offer letter, it will tell you the donor who made possible the scholarship or fellowship
  • Some awards are set up in WiSH to require the thank you note BEFORE the award is distributed
  • For other awards, it makes more sense to write the thank you note after you've used the funds (for example going to a conference: you will write a much better thank you note after you attend the conference and recognize the impact of it on your graduate studies)

VIEW DONOR INFORMATION PAGES
  • There are donor information pages about each of our donors that can be found in this BOX folder https://uwmadison.box.com/s/6crsh8e7jgz05nl2sxf4wh4ym6562pcw
  • Identify the donor of your scholarships or fellowship and read more about them and their gift to the School of Human Ecology
  • Use the information so that you can adequately thank them and/or their designee for their gift
