Please join our virtual lecture with Dr. Rajesh Sampath, a Professor at Brandeis University, and Thenmozhi Soundararajan, Executive Director of Equality Labs, on Thursday, March 3rd, at 12-2 pm. The talk will explore how caste operates transnationally as a system of oppression and draw connections with other forms of systemic oppression in the US. Both speakers have worked to expose and challenge caste discrimination in US academic communities and beyond, and they will share insights from this work to generate discussion about future directions for activism to prevent discrimination on the basis of caste. The event will raise awareness among faculty, staff, and students about how the caste discrimination system that developed in India has travelled internationally and into the US higher education system. The lecture is sponsored by the Institute for Regional and International Studies National Resource Center, the Department of Geography, and the University Lecture Kemper K. Knapp Fund. https://uwmadison.box.com/s/q0rgg4n4srbjmewa3ay54qxdbzw4zi4y
