Streaming Media - Adding closed captioning to content on Streaming Media Services servers

The Streaming Media Service is scheduled to end on June 30, 2015. DoIT is discontinuing the service because there are other viable solutions available. Announcements will be sent to current service users from now until the service end date. More information is available at the Streaming Media website or via email at streaming@lists.wisc.edu.

This document explains how to add closed captioning to content on Streaming Media Services servers.

UW faculty and staff who need captions or transcripts for their streaming media materials can now choose between two service providers recently selected by a cross-campus team.

For more information about these captioning services please reference this knowledge base article.

Once the transcription files are completed contact us at streaming@lists.wisc.edu to schedule a consultation to include the transcription as part of your media file.

UW Madison's accessibility guidelines can be reviewed at http://www.doit.wisc.edu/accessibility/. Our policy is that all UW-Madison content placed on University servers need to follow section 508 subpart B section 1194-24 http://www.access-board.gov/sec508/guide/1194.24.htm.

Contact streaming@lists.wisc.edu for more information about how to comply with the above rules or with other questions about the process of captioning streaming media.
